6 MINUTE TIME CAP:

1 Rep Max Power Clean

Same for all divisions


Event Description

Athletes will have 6 minutes to accumulate a 1 Rep Max Power Clean. Athletes may take as many attempts as desired within the 6 minutes. Athletes can have help with changing weights. This event is scored by recording the heaviest successful Power Clean (in pounds) obtained with in the 6 minute cap.

* IMPORTANT NOTE: ELITE TEAMS!!! ATHLETES IN A QUALIFYING POSITION WILL BE REQUESTED TO SUBMIT ONE VIDEO AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE QUALIFIER. This will be an event video selected at random by the CanWest Staff. Please ensure you record your workouts to avoid having to redo. 
This does NOT apply to Intermediate or Scaled Teams.

Movement Standards

Power Clean

-        The barbell must start on the ground

-        The bar must be lifted in one continuous motion to the shoulders

-        The athlete must stand with the knee and hips fully extended and the bar supported at the shoulders with control

-        The feet must be positioned under the shoulders or hips

-        An athlete may not perform a squat clean. If the crease of the athlete’s hip is below the top of the knee the rep will not count. Any depth above this point is acceptable
