WORKOUT INSTRUCTIONS:

This workout begins with the athlete seated infront of the med ball. After the call of “3, 2, 1… go,” in a 12 min cap the athlete will start on the floor between boxes in kneeling position.

Athlete will perform 1 box dip then move to 1 kneeling burpee. After round 1 is complete they will move to 2 Box dips and 2 kneeling Burpees ... continuing to increase 1 rep of each movement until reaching 8 Box dips and 8 kneeling Burpees. After they complete the 8th round they will mark thier time on the final burpee clap and in the remain time of the 12 minute cap they will complete  18.2 A. If the athlete does not finish the required reps of 18.2 in the 12 minute Cap then they will record the reps accomplished and add 1 second to 12:00 minutes for every rep not completed and score zero on 18.2A

18.2A will be finding a 1 RM Clean in the remaining time left in the 12 minute clock. Cleans will be done with the bar

Scaled athletes may start seated on the ground and have the buttox touch the floor at the bottom of the dip.

NOTE:

The clean must be performed with a barbell, and the plates must be secured with collars. The athlete may complete as many attempts as he or she likes until the time cap is up but will only receive credit for the heaviest successful lift. Plates smaller than 1⁄2 lb. may not be used, and the minimum weight increase will be 1 pound. The athlete may receive assistance from other people to load the barbell between lifts.

The athlete’s score for 18.2 will be the total time it takes to complete all 110 reps or the number of reps completed at the end of 12 minutes. The athlete’s score for 18.2a will be the heaviest weight successfully cleaned, in pounds. If the athlete does not complete the squats and burpees in less than 12 minutes, he or she will not log a score for 18.2a.

IMPORTANT:

If an athlete chooses to scale 18.2, he or she will also have a scaled 18.2a score. An athlete who completes 18.2 as prescribed and fails to complete a lift will be ranked higher on the Leaderboard for both 18.2 and 18.2a than athletes who scale 18.2.

Workout Standards

18. 2 Standards

Rx Athletes

Box Dip - Rx

The athlete will perform this movement from the ground outside of the wheelchair or assistive device. no athletes may use any item to sit of like a box or bench ect.

Boxes will be positioned at a height so that at the bottom of the Dip the elbows and shoulders are at the same level. Knees may be touching the ground during the bottom portion of the Dip. At the top of the Dip knees must come off the ground and arms must lock out directly parallel to the mid line. Hands must be in line with hips at the top of the dip, they may not be positioned behind or in front of the hips. Locked out will consist of elbows fully extended at the top of the rep. Reps will be counted at the top of the Dip.

Athletes may use plates to adjust height of dip station.

.

Knee Burpee - Rx

Athlete will start in a kneeling postion, they may use a pillow or mat to protect the buttox or stop from going to far past Range of Motion in the knees while in kneeling position.

The athlete will then thrust or crawl forward extending and dropping the chest to the floor in a bottom of push up position. The chest must touch the floor with hips and legs at full extension in laying position. They will then reverse the movemnent finishing in kneeling position and shoulders over hips. athlete will clap out infront of body before starting next rep. Reps will be counted on the clap.

.

Scaled Athletes

Box Dip

The athlete will start from the ground sitting on their buttox between 2 boxes. Boxes will be positioned at a height so that at the bottom of the Dip the elbows and shoulders are at the same level and butt is touching the ground.

At the top of the Dip buttox must come off the ground and arms must lock out directly parallel to the mid line. Hands must be in line with hips at the top of the dip, they may not be positioned behind or in front of the hips. Locked out will consist of elbows fully extended at the top of the rep. Reps will be counted at the top of the Dip. Athletes may use plates to adjust height of dip station.

.

Knee Push Ups

Athlete will perform a push up with arms full locked out at top of push up and knees on the floor. athlete must return to floor chest touching before starting next rep. Reps will be counted at chest touch of the later half of the rep. Final rep each round the chest must return to the floor before advancing the next rep.

.

The Clean

The barbell begins on the boxes. The rep is complete when the bar is resting on the shoulders in the front-rack position with the athlete’s elbows in front of the bar and shoulders over the hips. The bar may not rest on the chest inorder to get the elbows through to clean position. See video standards for clear example of this no rep.

NOTE: Cleans may be done from the lap but WheelWOD does not support this as we see it as unsafe when moving very heavy loads.

.

TIE BREAK

There is no tiebreak for Workout 18.2. However, the scoring for Workout 18.2a does include a tiebreak. In the case where two athletes clean the same amount on 18.2a, their times on 18.2 will serve as the tiebreak, and the athlete with the faster time on 18.2 will be ranked higher on 18.2a. Ties will not be broken for athletes who did not complete a lift.

.

Equipment

  • Barbell
  • Standard bumper plates (18-in. diameter) and change plates (no smaller than ½ lb.)
  • Collars

NOTE only increments as low as 1 pound can be used. no partial pound plates may be used.

.

For each workout, be sure the athlete has adequate space to safely complete all the movements. Clear the area of all extra equipment, people or other obstructions.

Any athlete who in any way alters the equipment or movements described in this document or shown in the workout standards video may be disqualified from the competition.

.

Rx Video submission standards

Scaled do not need to provide video.

Prior to starting, Film the box set up showing the weight of the barbell and the distance of the loaded bar making sure it is not more then 3 inches above the lap. also film plates to be used so the loads can be seen clearly. Before or after each lift, the athlete must state the weight and show the plates used. At the end of the workout, film the barbell being unloaded, and show the weight of the plates in order to clarify the actual heaviest load lifted. All video submissions should be uncut and unedited in order to accurately display the performance. A clock or timer, with the running workout time clearly visible, should be in the frame throughout the entire workout. Shoot the video from an angle so all exercises can be clearly seen meeting the movement standards. Videos shot with a fisheye lens or similar lens may be rejected due to the visual distortion these lenses cause.
