Event description

GET READY MASTERS ATHLETES OF THE DMV… On 21 October 2017, CrossFit Kingstowne, creators of the Cold War Mid-Atlantic Team Competition, will be hosting a one-day team competition strictly for Masters athletes. This will be the largest masters team event in the DMV and will feature three age divisions for athletes 30-39, 40-49, and 50+. No longer will our 30-34 athletes have to compete with 20 year olds. This is not a scaled competition for older athletes.  This event has been designed to showcase the abilities of Masters athletes in the DMV area. Teams can be comprised of either two men (male/male) or two females (female/female). We promise this will be different from any other Masters competition in the area. For this event you won’t walk away with just a medal, top finishers will receive some pretty sweet prizes to include cash prizes for our first place teams.  

REGISTRATION: 
Cost: $190 per team (processing fee not included).  
Registration will go live on 1 August 2017.  


AGE DIVISIONS:  
30-39 M/M or F/F
40-49 M/M or F/F 
50+ M/M or F/F  

If teams are comprised of athletes in different age categories (e.g. one athlete is 36 and one is 42) then the team must compete in the younger team members age division.  Using this example the team would register for the 30-39 division.  Athletes will be required to present their IDs upon check-in to ensure a fair competition.

WORKOUT STANDARDS: 
Clean and Jerk: 155/105 (30-39); 135/95 (40-49); 115/80 (50+) 
Snatch: 135/95 (30-39); 115/75 (40-49); 95/65 (50+)
Deadlift 275/185 (30-39); 225/155 (40-49); 185/135 (50+)
Double Unders 
Pull Ups 
T2B: 30-39; 40-49; 50+ KTE

These are just examples of working weights and minimum movement standards. For the finals, the top five teams in each division will earn a spot in the final workout and should expect to see some higher skill movements such as HSPU, Ring Dips, and/or C2B Pull Ups.  

PRIZES:  
The top three teams in each division will receive some amazing prizes from our awesome sponsors. Additionally the first place team in each division will recieve a cash prize. All teams will receive a t-shirt and a swag bag with goodies from our sponsors to include samples, coupons, etc.  

REFUND POLICY:  
No refunds will be provided after registration.  Teams will be able to transfer tickets if necessary, however please note that we will not be able to accommodate t-shirt size changes after the t-shirt deadline has passed.   

PARKING: 
Athletes are requested to park on South Pickett street or in the Cameron Station neighborhood.  Additional parking is available at the Van Dorn Metro Station and the Giant Shopping Plaza.  A parking volunteer will be on site to ensure that parking is available for other merchants and customers within the shopping plaza and to ensure there is no double parking.  Athletes are encouraged to bring tents and chairs to set up in the alley behind our facility.

Scoring: For Repetitions: More is Better

12 Minutes. 10 Wall Balls (20/14); Max Reps of Hang Cleans (see below). At the start of each minute one partner will complete ten wall balls and then hang cleans for max reps. Athletes will rotate every minute with only one athlete working each minute for the full minute. Score is total number of hang cleans. 30-39: 155/105 40-49: 135/95 50+ 115/75

Scoring: For Time: Fastest is Better

For Time (15 Min. Cap) 40 Cal Row 30 Dumbbell Snatch (Alt.) 20 Toes to Bar 10 Rope Climbs 20 Toes to Bar 30 Dumbbell Snatch 40 Calorie Row Athlete 1 will start on the calorie row and climb down the ladder through 30 DB Snatch, 20 TTB and 5 Rope climbs. As soon as athlete 1 competes 5 rope climbs they will tag athlete 2 to finish the remaining 5 rope climbs and then Athlete 2 will begin to climb back up the ladder ending with the 40 calorie row. The score is total time to complete with a time cap of 15 minutes. Dumbbell Snatch Weight: 30-39 and 40-49: 50/35; 50+: 45/25. Rope climb height: 15'. Toes to Bar for 30-39 and 40-49; Knees to Elbow for 50+.

Scoring: For Time: Fastest is Better

For Time: 9-12-15-12-9 Synchronized Thrusters and Pull-ups. Partners Complete Synchronized Thrusters and then P1 Completes 9 Pull-ups and P2 completes 9 Pull-ups, then back to synchronized Thrusters., etc. Time Cap: 11 Minutes. 30-39: 115/75 and C2B Pull-ups 40-49 and 50+: 95/65 and Pull-ups

Scoring: For Repetitions: More is Better | Tiebreaker: Dus

AMRAP: 8 Minutes. Cash In: 100 DUs (50 DU for Partner 1; 50 DU for Partner 2). Then with remaining time, AMRAP of 10 GHD SU, 10 Calories on Assault Bike. Partner holds Atlas Stone in standing position. Partners Rotate after each round. Partner can only complete work while other Partner is in active Atlas Stone Hold. If ball is set down, work stops. 30-39: 115/65 40-49 and 50+: 95/65
