Event description

Pyromania is your "GAMES" day. It's time to apply that fitness outside the gym setting with functional activities and workouts you usually don't find in the regular gym setting. Obviously, expect some classic CrossFit as well. This year we're doing teams of 4. 2 males and 2 females. The team setting allows for more athletes to participate, more workout opportunities and formats. Besides, it's way more fun to share this with friends. Below are some important details about Pyromania V:

Teams of 4, M,M,F,F

2 divisions, Fitness (Scaled) and Firebreathers (Rx)

3 days of competitions. Friday night 6 to 9pm. Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 3pm

Many outside venues. We're still finalizing everything so stay tuned for details. If you look at the previous years, you'll get an idea of what to expect. Let's just say that we're not holding back on the awesomeness and we're totally going out of our way to make great workouts.

There will be swimming so now would be a good time start working on it. Just saying. As little as once or twice a month will get you a long way

We're using competition corner as our event management platform. You'll find all workout details there plus a live leaderboard all weekend

All athletes will get a badass tshirt/tank top

There will be many prizes from our sponsors. Trust us, awesome prizes

Champions are getting a custom banner to bring back to their box

Top 3 podium finishers will get the classic dog tag medals

What to expect for the workouts: Team worm. Don't worry about the weight, we'll have something manageable for both divisions. We'll adjust the reps and movement standards for each division. For the swimming, the pool is shallow so you can safely touch the ground if needed. We tailor the movements so everyone can do them. It doesn't mean it will be easy. We won't be sharing all the workouts details but some of it. "Be ready for the unknown and unknowable". We want everyone to choose the right division for them and be ready for the workouts. There will be about 10 scored events.

Division standards: Fitness (scaled). You'll have no problem going through our workouts if you did the Open in the scaled division. You should be able to handle regular scaled barbell weights and movements. 35/20 dumbbells, hand release push ups and single unders for example. From all previous years, nobody had any issues with our movements and weights selected. Just a heads up, just like last year, there will be rope climbs (3/4 up), get practicing

Firebreathers (Rx). If you did most of the Open Rx, you'll be fine in our Rx division. This is a more competitive division if you will but still for the majority of CrossFitters. If you can perform the Open or most workouts at your box as prescribed, this division would be a good spot for your team. Maybe only some of the team members can do all the movements Rx and some can't. That's ok! When we say more competitive, it doesn't mean that you'll be doing CrossFit Games level weights and movements, it just means that you have a more competitive spirit. The Firebreather spirit. Pegboards are coming back, get ready.
