Event description

Down Under Championship has increased the field of Athletes to include 80 Males 80 Females and 40 Teams in 2019. The qualifying process for the Down Under Championship will be based on athlete performance in the 2019 Games Open.


INDIVIDUAL ATHLETES


TO QUALIFY FROM AUSTRALIA 
The top 40 male athletes and the top 40 female Australian ranked athletes from the Open will automatically qualify.

TO QUALIFY AS AN INTERNATIONAL ATHLETE

Individual Athletes will need to rank per country based on the amount of affiliates;

TEAMS 

20 AUSTRALIAN TEAMS WILL BE ACCEPTED 
For Australian teams, 3 of the 4 team members must rank inside the top 300 during the 2019 Games Open.


20 INTERNATIONAL TEAMS WILL BE ACCEPTED 

20 places will be allocated to International teams to qualify.

Once again for International athletes qualifying teams will be determined by number of affiliates per country.

Scoring: For Weight: Heavier is Better

The athlete is given 3 x 1 minute attempts to complete their maximum effort of clean and jerk. The lift must be at complete extension prior to buzzer sounding.

Both Female athletes 3 x 1 minute attempts to achieve max weight Clean & Jerk. Both Females lift in the 1 minute time frame.
